Assistant Director

If you are a bilingual in English and Chinese, love working with children and are a motivated, can't-sit-behind-a-desk type, contact us! 

We are looking for someone with good organizational skills to assist in the running of a growing martial arts school and Chinese institute in Northwest Portland. Our plan is to add a Chinese after-school program for children, incorporating other cultural programs such as Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. 

Job duties include: 

1) First contacts with perspective students, usually over the phone, and the registration of new students.

2) Monitor students' attendances and make follow-up phone calls to those who have been missing classes.

3) Assist in the running of the Chinese after-school program for children, including work frame, marketing, recruiting and training teachers, selecting textbook and creating supplemental materials, syllabus, and so on. 

Demonstrated computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook required. Sales experience is a plus. 

We are looking for somebody who can multi-task, have good organizational and interpersonal skills and can work independently. 

This is a part-time job. The work hours for this position are Mondays -Fridays from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8a.m. - 3p.m. 

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Chinese Language Teacher

If you have some background in Chinese Language, love working with children and are motivated, contact us!  It has a fun, high-energy work environment. You will gain a strong sense of fulfillment. Our plan is to teach a Chinese after-school program for children, incorporating other cultural programs such as Chinese brush painting and calligraphy.

1) Teaching Chinese language to students of all ages.

3) Assisting in the running of the Chinese after-school program. 

You need to demonstrate computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook. A degree in education is preferred but not required. Patience and love of children is required. We are looking for someone who has good organizational and interpersonal skills and who can work independently. 

This is a part-time job. General  Accountant

US Wushu Center located at the prestigious Pearl District, Downtown Portland seeks a motivated General Accountant.

Job duties include: 

1). Calculate taxes owed and prepare quarterly and annual tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements. 

2). Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice. 

3). Report to Owner regarding the finances of US Wushu Center, specifically with weekly, monthly, annual and bi-annual year-to-date Business Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss statements, and special reports. 

4) Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts for the Bookkeeper to record the data. 

5). Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. 

6). Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, upgrading our accounting systems making use of current computer technology to enable the bookkeeper’s accurate data entries. 

7). Advise owner about issues such as costs and expenses analysis, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts. 

The successful candidate will work closely together with the bookkeeper and participate as a key member of the accounting team. 

Experience and Educational Requirements: A Bachelor Degree in Accounting, finance, economics, business administration or related field or its equivalent is required. Some experience in professional general accounting preferred. Necessary skills include; attention to details, ability to work as a team member, strong understanding of Excel and MS Office software, general accounting principles. 

Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications at the market rate for Level One Accountant plus standard company benefits.


Bookkeeper/Secretary

US Wushu Center located in the prestigious Pearl District, Downtown Portland, seeks an Entry level Bookkeeper/Secretary. Answer phone calls from our current and potential customers, and explain our company business structures and our classes. Other duties include data entry, invoicing, taking care of incoming and outgoing mail, book keeping, recording student attendance, and inventory supplies. Work closely with Accountant. 

Experience and Educational Requirements: 

Must possess great communication skills, Excel and MS Office skills and be able to deal with a high level of responsibility within the job. Having the ability to work independently and as a team player to achieve and improve results is a must. Any college degree is preferred but not required. 

Full-time or part-time. 

Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications at the market rate.
